We went to La Lagunilla in Mexico City to do Fashion Research
Plus, some of my favorite Costa Rican brands at the moment.
For months now, I’ve been struggling to create a newsletter in the typical Substack format – for some reason, I just can’t sit down and write like I used to.
I’m a deeply intuitive person, so I’ve taken it as a hint that something felt out of alignment and that I needed to return to my centre.
As I did that, I realized the only way I currently imagine myself sharing my research and experience is by creating something that feels editorial (I even picture how it would be printed and in what format!).
So I allowed myself to sit down and build this little editorial document. I started by cutting some pages, writing things down, and pinning them to the wall. Then I proceeded to draw it on my iPad.
This might just mean that my way of sharing experiences here is shifting. I’m trying to embrace it, and I hope you like it too.
For now, I’m bringing you two things in this 12-page document (available in full below for my paid subscribers). First, some favorite brands from Costa Rica, and then my experience traveling to Lagunilla in Mexico City, where I share the route we took and all the things we found (more on that below).
Some of my favorite Costa Rican brands
It’s interesting to note that many of these brands might share similarities – like mesh or prints – but each one is quite unique on its own.
Shop ATEM and Frau Lamb.
Shop Cosmic Factory here.
Sneak Peek of visiting La Lagunilla in Mexico City
Recently, the designer and researcher Itzel Real and I visited, since we’ve been exploring several brands that sell there (more details on that in the PDF).
